Blues legend B.B. King recently opened the newest location of his popular namesake clubs in Las Vegas with a bang, as many of his best friends came out to support him and jam the night away. With friends like Willie Nelson, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Lee Ritenour and Steve Cropper, the musical fireworks lit up the night with explosive guitar playing and once-in-a-lifetime entertainment.
And on stage for this special event? Kustom, of course. Kustom is the Official Amplifier of B.B. King's Blues Clubs, with guitar and bass amplifiers on stage at B.B. Kings locations in Memphis, Nashville, Orlando, West Palm Beach and now, Las Vegas. The new club is located in The Mirage Hotel on the famed Miracle Mile.
The venue, which seats 558 visitors, provides live music seven nights a week and features B.B. King's All-Star Band every Tuesday through Saturday nights. Kustom all-tube Coupe, Defender and Double Cross guitar amplifiers offer a wide range of tonal options for the All-Star Band and visiting stars, from vintage clean to modern and mean.
Early highlights of opening night included legendary guitarist, arranger and songwriter Steve Cropper singing “Sitting By the Dock of the Bay” (which he co-wrote with Otis Redding), Lee Ritenour dazzling the crowd with his funky and fluid lines, Robert Cray playing his hit “Strong Persuader” and Willie Nelson performing his classic “Always on my Mind.”
Next, Bluesman Buddy Guy whipped up the crowd with his stinging guitar lines and impassioned vocals, proving to be the perfect complement to The Man himself, Mr. B.B. King. Although he only planned on playing a song or two, B.B. entertained the enraptured crowd for nearly an hour while backed by Guy, Cray and Cropper and the All-Star band. Mr. King generously let all the guitarists solo freely on songs like “The Thrill Is Gone,” creating a relaxed, spontaneous environment that the crowd ate up.
B.B. King’s Blues Club is located at 3400 Las Vegas Blvd. South in The Mirage Hotel, across from The Beatles Revolution Lounge. For more information, visit www.bbkingclubs.com.
